Furniture

Dressers, chairs and occasional tables are hand painted. Found items like old frames turn into mirrors. Lampshades, with clever whimsical design, transform into an exciting lighting industry.

Glassware

We capture refuse glass before it goes to the landfill and create luxury hand painted glassware.

Vintage Textiles

The Remix launches its own line of hand painted and hand dyed fashion. It is called Sliptique and is comprised of vintage lingerie and textiles from all over the world.

Secondhand Clothing

Vintage fashion rules this genre, as the quality and craftsmanship of bygone eras, continue to hold enthusiasm among both old and young consumers.

A prototype model for sustainable living

Originally from Washington, DC, The Remix Vintage Fashion Shop was located on DC’s Capitol Hill and in the Virginia suburbs of Del Ray. It won many consumer awards for its service and style.

Stacey DiTata, its owner, moved to Baja California in 2008. Her retail career spans 45 years. In 2020, The Remix went from an online shop to a brick and mortar shop again. She opened The Remix in Baja to inspire a revolution toward sustainable living and a retail economy healthier for our planet. So, from vintage shop to upcycle shop, from DC to Baja, The Remix continues to provide style and affordability. This time, with a purpose- to save the planet.

The Remix transforms secondhand home and personal items into product that heralds a new economy.

REUSE. RECYCLE.REPURPOSE. And, IMAGINE. CREATE.TRANSFORM are words written across their shop windows serving as commandments for their vision of a healthier consumer world.

What is UPCYCLING? Upcycling takes secondhand things and transforms them into something new. Upcycling is a creative response to alleviating the immense inventory of discarded product glutting our landfills. It is living consciously. Conscious living is a lifestyle that shifts toward resourcefulness and creativity and away from over production.

The Remix launches its own line of hand painted and hand dyed fashion. It is called Sliptique and is comprised of vintage lingerie and textiles from all over the world.

The Remix is unique because it splits home store and fashion into two separate shops. The upper level of the plaza locates upcycled, used and vintage furniture, home décor and art. Their fashion, gifts and accessories gather in their downstairs shop located in the main courtyard.

A neighborhood boutique, The Remix has become a friendly meeting place for like-minded artists and conscious consumers. Its inventory is gathered locally from vendors and rag markets with a mission to help women entrepreneurs and artists. Also, most notable, The Remix acquires their inventory from neighbors who are moving and want to rehome their things. This rehoming service cuts down on needless over production keeping products local.

The Remix hopes that this direction of retailing will become the future. Their wish is that every neighborhood will have a boutique where fashion and home items can be housed, transformed and rehomed eliminating the senseless overproduction and shipping that harm our planet.
